That means you expect the market to become more volatile in order to make money on the position. Clearly, ahead of a data release or earnings announcment that is exactly what you're thinking. Here's the rub, though. The market knows that release or announcement is coming, so it expects the volatility to increase. Expected volatility is a part of the price of the options you are buying. That means you will pay more. Make sure the spread isn't overpriced when you get in or you will struggle to make money even if the market does move quite a bit.John Formanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14051347339480135662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6288069931354007705.post-58476437182595983052007-01-24T00:18:00.000-04:002007-01-24T00:18:00.000-04:00A strangle is another neutral strategy the works i...A strangle is another neutral strategy the works in a similar wayImaginaryPaperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06362133212071830031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6288069931354007705.post-29536728420121082032007-01-19T03:54:00.000-04:002007-01-19T03:54:00.000-04:00Straddle?
